Enid C. Pinkney is Founder of the Lemon City Cemetery Community
Corporation. She also founded the African American Committee of Dade
Heritage Trust. The Lemon City Cemetery Community Corporation which was
the former African American Committee of Dade Heritage Trust was organized
to stop developers from building three affordable housing units on a Black
abandoned cemetery. The City of Miami said they did not know that the
property was a cemetery. The founder is the Founding president of the Historic
Hampton House Community Trust, Inc. and the Curtis Foundation, a historic
preservation organization. The developers made two of the properties into a memorial
Garden and a monument with 523 names of the deceased persons who are buried in the
Lemon City Cemetery. They also reinterred the human bones that were dug-up
from the cemetery. The Human bones were reinterred at a re-interment
service.
